It is a named place in OpenStreetMap, at Ebenezer Road and Herlong Avenue, and the city’s zoning map carries a planned development called Ebenezer Village near the old church. There is no official boundary, so this page covers the area within about half a mile of that point.

History
The city’s 2023 Southside Rock Hill Historic Resource Survey (PDF) tells the story:
- Early settlers, mostly Presbyterian, founded the Ebenezer Associate Presbyterian Church around the time of the Revolution. Its first pastor, William Blackstock, was installed in 1794. The village that grew around the church was named Ebenezerville.
- By the 1820s Ebenezerville had a post office, a store, a church and a school, Ebenezer Academy, founded as early as 1819. The academy had about 40 students in 1822 and added a frame building in 1824. Ebenezer Presbyterian built a new wooden church on the site in 1826.
- When the railroad was surveyed through the settlement in the 1840s, some residents refused to give a right of way. Surveyors for the Charlotte and South Carolina Railroad drew the line a few miles east instead, across what they called a “rocky hill,” and the town of Rock Hill grew around the depot there.
