BOO HaHa! is daytime trick-or-treating at Fountain Park, sponsored by OTS Media: a daytime option for younger children.

The Halloween Spooktacular follows on Main Street “before you head out trick-or-treating,” as the organizers put it: inflatables, rides, live music and train rides, with free admission. Volunteer “scarers” work the crowd; anyone who does not want to be scared can get a wristband at the information tent.

Trunks or Treats at Boyd Hill Recreation Center is the city’s trunk-or-treat, the day after Halloween. Organizations, families and groups can sign up to decorate a trunk or a table and hand out candy through the volunteer sign-up.

Firelight Fright Storytelling is a York County Library and city event on the lawn; bring a chair or blanket. Food trucks sell food.

Curfew

The Rock Hill Police Department enforces the city’s juvenile curfew. From September through May it starts at 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at midnight on Friday and Saturday, until 6 a.m. Halloween 2026 is a Saturday, so the curfew starts at midnight. Officers take juveniles out after curfew home to a parent or guardian, who gets a warning ticket the first time, according to the department’s curfew policy.

Candy safety

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Halloween food safety tips for parents:

  • Feed children a light meal or snack before they go out, and ask them to wait until they get home so you can check their treats before they eat any.
  • Do not let children eat anything that is not commercially wrapped. Throw away anything with signs of tampering, such as pinholes, tears in wrappers or an unusual appearance.
  • If your child has a food allergy, check labels, and do not allow home-baked goods.
