Catawba River Trail

The city’s signature trail is a 3.35-mile paved, multi-use path along the Catawba River, 10 feet wide, with flat stretches, hills and some steep grades, shared by walkers, runners and cyclists. It runs from Riverwalk, 575 Herrons Ferry Road, to River Park, 1782 Quality Circle, and is part of the Rock Hill Trails and Greenways System and the Carolina Thread Trail. The Catawba River Trailhead, 100 Celriver Road, has restrooms, a water fountain and parking, and joins the trail between mile markers 2.25 and 2.5. Restrooms are also at the Riverwalk and River Park lots. Pets are allowed on a 3-foot leash, and the trail is accessible, the city’s trail page says. At its south end it connects to the Waterford Trail.

River Park, 70 acres on the river, adds several miles of natural, boardwalk and paved trails, with QR-coded signs to help you find your way and a canoe and kayak launch. A canoe and kayak launch also sits near the Riverwalk trailhead.

Mountain biking

About four miles of mountain bike trails, marked easy, difficult and most difficult, branch off about a mile down the paved trail from Riverwalk. They mix gravel and clay service roads, sewer easement and technical single track, and the clay sections of the Green trail get very muddy after heavy rain. Control your speed where the trails rejoin the paved path, the city’s mountain bike page asks.

Park loops and neighborhood trails

  • Cherry Park and Manchester Meadows each have a lighted 1.5-mile perimeter loop with short connectors, parking and restrooms, open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. year-round since July 1, 2026.
  • Eagle Trail circles the Winthrop Coliseum and Winthrop Lake on the Winthrop University campus; parking may be available at the coliseum.
  • Confederate Park Trail winds 1.75 miles through Confederate Park.
  • Winston Searles Trail honors a Rock Hill trail advocate and passes historical plaques on the Hagins-Fewell neighborhood and the Arcade Mill. A small lot sits at Hagins Street and Sunset Drive.
  • Rawlinson Road Trail is an 8-foot-wide path along Rawlinson Road, with parking in the gravel lot next to the Rock Hill Aquatic Center.
  • Fewell Park Trail winds through woods along a creek and the park’s disc golf course; restrooms are open when the recreation center is.
  • Northside and Jack White trails start by the Northside Recreation Center and follow Dave Lyle Boulevard; the city says Jack White will eventually link to a planned trail into downtown.

Cycling beyond the trails

The city’s cycling complex on Riverwalk Parkway includes the Rock Hill Velodrome, 1000 Riverwalk Parkway, and the BMX Supercross Track and Criterium course at 1307 Riverwalk Parkway, each with its own riding hours on the city’s regional parks list. The city’s cycling page covers programs and races.
