Every one of 128 food inspections at Rock Hill addresses in October earned an A, and 30 scored a perfect 100. The lowest was 88, one point above a B.

State inspectors made 128 food safety inspections at restaurants and other food businesses with a Rock Hill address in October. Every one earned an A.

Thirty of those inspections scored a perfect 100. The lowest score was 88, the bottom of the A range and one point above a B. No inspection earned a B or a C.

The figures come from the inspection reports posted in SC Food Grades, the state’s public database. We searched it Sunday for inspections dated Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. The latest report posted so far is dated Oct. 29. The inspections are done by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, which took over retail food safety from the state health department in July 2024.

How the grades work

Inspectors start at 100 and subtract weighted points for each violation they record, under state Regulation 61-25:

Grade Score
A 88 to 100 points
B 78 to 87 points
C 77 points or less

A score describes conditions on the day of that one visit. Our restaurant inspections guide explains how to read a report and how to complain about a business.

A note on the figures

The database searches by mailing city. A Rock Hill address includes some places outside the city limits. We counted each inspection once, read the point score from each report and did not add anything the reports do not say. October reports dated after Oct. 29 may still be posted.
